Glad you made it back safely and no one was injured.

Why was your boat taking on water to begin with?

Please share more information if possible. It may help someone else avoid a similar accident or mishap.

Meeka -- There are several snags at different points w/in the junction of Bayou Loutre and the MRGO. I never noticed this particular snag before Friday morning. You are plenty safe from snags if you keep it in the main channels, but there is a relatively new snag in Bayou Loutre just after you enter ...

Meeka & Capt,

The accident took place on the edge of the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet. I suspect the water temperature was in the mid to upper 40's, perhaps even the lower 50's. Certainly cold enough to pose some risk. The marina was Breton Sound Marina . . . some very fine folks.

I was ...

Went swimming yesterday

Fortunately, I am alive today to write this report. Yesterday morning (Friday, Jan. 3rd) at approx. 4:15, I sank my hunting partner's 16 foot modified v boat with a 25 Go-Devil. The entire event occurred in a matter of seconds as I ran up on a snag & swamped the back of the boat in six-eight feet of ...

Tunica -- I hunt periodically out of what was once JT & Joyce's Bait Joint. The weir needs a water depth marker on it for safety purposes. Explanation: I want to know how much clearance above the weir is available on any given river level. If there is only a foot or two of clearance or if the river ...

Tunica --

I think wearing neoprene waders in the boat while duck hunting is a good idea even if you are not going to be wading. Are you saying that you believe even the neoprene waders pose a risk of filling up with water? I am interested in your thoughts on this topic.

By the way, what do ...

I par-boiled a merganser recently and then put it into a gumbo along with some other ducks, cut gizzards & livers, two dozen oysters, a pound & a half of shrimp, and okra. No complaints here.

Yes, I also like poule dous. Don't knock if if you have not tried it.

While the steel shot is incased in hard plastic,it still will not compress.Therefore.it does put more damaging pressure on the barrel, than lead which does compress. This is why it's not reccomended to shoot lead in older weaker barrels.

Regardless of where you stand on the ecological ...
