Of course not, that's one of the craziest things I've heard in a while.

Re: Balance....
Awesome post Travis, and dog that is taught the right way first then later corrected for deviating has a deeper understanding of what went wrong. They have a better chance to interpret and understand the correction, I couldn't agree more

Re: Balance....
I also want to add this, I don't believe in hot spots. I prefer to teach them the correct way to do things first, then correct when they stray from what we've taught. If that creates a hot spot then so be it. I feel like its lazy to make hot spots so the dog knows where not to go and not teach the ...

Re: Balance....
I feel like swim by is 100% necessary. I may use it differently but I find I can create the proper mindset in my dog as it relates to water work by micro managing the return so to speak. I'm running all age with my dogs, some of the water marks in training are flat out big. I'm not handling my dog ...

Re: Balance....
To the op, you have a great problem with your all age dog. That will straighten out over time as he gains confidence and learns its ok to go at the bird. I prefer mine to be approaching water marks from the fat side in training, it tells me they have water in their mind. There does come a point ...

Re: knee issues... couple questions.
I would do the TPlO. I have a dog that had it over a year ago and he is good as new. The rehab is not bad at all--I took a very conservative approach and within 4 months he was back in light duty. When I say conservative I mean I rested the dog for weeks and just did some leash walks for the first ...

Re: Question for the dog trainers.
Sounds like the dog needs to be treated like a puppy and reintroduced to birds. Try and make it fun for the dog.

Op, give me a break. You talk big but I doubt you are stupid enough to carry any of this bs out. If you indeed are, wow. Give em a bullet for me.

Re: Force fetching a dog
Lol at this post. Im guessing you own gentlemans gundogs? If you took the time to watch Evans videos you would see he uses the tang of the collar as the pressure point. Sounds like you've been brain washed the wild woes way.

Re: Partially Torn ACL UPDATED
Dr. Milton did my dogs tplo for 2500. That included the Meds. Did not include rehab, which I spent roughly 500 on. That is his standard price for the procedure as of November.

Re: Force fetching a dog
Jealous much? Evan has a great Carr based training program. It is especially great for beginners. Ok, I guess I should say FF is a step in some training processes.
But, I still see nothing but positives from proper FF. I can only see negatives from not doing FF. You have nothing to apologize for ...

Re: Partially Torn ACL
A partial tear or full tear makes no difference. Tplo restructures the knee, if I'm not mistaken they don't even repair the ligament. My dog recovered in 4 months with basic rehab. He went back to full field trial training at 5 months. No visible side effects or difference in gait.

Re: Partially Torn ACL
It will not heal by itself, it will however tear. I wound travel to see Dr. Milton in Birmingham and let him advise. If its truly a tear he is a hell of a surgeon and has done over 10k tplo procedures. Bottom line is it absolutely won't heal itself. I would find a new vet while your at it.
