Re: Nanih Waiya drained. DW and DU's compared responses:

By all means....feel free to call me. My direct line 601.206.5442

Please understand, DU and MDWFP biologists stay quite busy this time of year. If we spent all of our time talking on the phone and posting responses on Internet forums, we'd never get anything accomplished. I'm not making excuses for ...

My name is Chad Manlove and I work for Ducks Unlimited in Jackson, MS. I've talked with Kevin Brunke, Migratory Game Biologist with the MDWFP. Nanih Waiya WMA is owned by the U.S. ARmy Corps of Engineers and managed for wildlife by MDWFP. It was originally purchased to mitigate bottomland hardwood ...

Pretty cool. This is not a pen-raised bird.

Most likely this bird is part of a waterfowl research project.

Nasal saddles help researchers ID specific birds without having to catch / kill the birds.

Did the nasal saddle have number / letter combination?

A true trophy for the wall.....

Biologists have been in contact with the hunter. The lesser scaup was killed in Mississippi. The bird has been cleaned and the satellite transmitter has been properly removed.

Thanks!

Winston County, Alabama

The bird is located north of Haleyville and east of Bear Creek, Alabama.

More specifically the garage is just northeast of Posey Field which appears to be an airport/airstrip.

Satellite Lesser Scaup - Dead??

One of the satellite lesser scaup was recently killed (we think) in the Mississippi Delta. The last known location alive was near Tchula on Jan. 3, 2008.

The current location of the bird is in a garage/shed in northwest Alabama.

Looks like a Alabama hunter might have harvested this bird ...

If it does happen to be the weather, then why the hell can't we get somebody to fight for US to have the seasons like other states up north have. Their season is when the ducks are there, why can't our season be when the ducks are HERE!!?!?!?!?

Federal law prevents ducks from being hunted past ...
