Concrete pricing question

Postby lipsplitter39654 » Tue Apr 21, 2009 8:17 pm

What would it cost to pour a 12,000 square foot concrete slab? From start to finish total price without me touching it. form, pour, finish the whole nine yards......

It'll take more than nine yards

Jimmy - it's going to depend on location. You'll need at least 2 pumps @ so much per hour and so much per cubic yard and 8 to 12 trucks coming from somewhere within 30 minutes of your site.....they'll need to discharge within an hour of leaving the plant. They charge more for mileage outside of their normal range.

Better get somebody you know pretty well or a contractor that specializes in concrete and foundations- lotta hungry folks out there that can't handle 12,000 s.f. pour that will tell you they can - and screw it up.

I'm not an expert, but I'd say about $14k for material (concrete, wood for forms, and expantion joints) and
at a 50% material mix that would get you to about $21k. My math may be wrong, but this is just a guess based
on about 150 yards of concrete at $80 a yard and other materials and labor.

You don't have to pump it, if you can get your trucks close enough. I used to work at Hercules Concrete Pumping and I can tell you what that cost.

29 Meter Boom $159/hr
31 Meter boom $186/hr

The cost goes up per meter of boom. YOu also have a 5 Hour Minimum.

depends on how much prep work needs to be done, and what you are going to be using the slab for. That will dictate the thickness of the slab. 3500 lb concrete with ribbon is running about $90 yard in our area delivered.
Sometimes you just have to close your eyes, count to ten, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you wouldn't look good in prison stripes... and just smile at that dumbass and walk away.

150 yds concrete material (4", no footings or turndowns) @ $85 = $12,750
Reinforcing 6x6 wire w/#4's @ 48" o.c. = $5,500
Fine grade, form, tie reinforcement, place & finish @ $1.50/sf = $18,000

Grand total = $36,250 no pump

If you are in the North MS/Memphis area contact Mark Maddox. He owns a construction company that deals with a lot of concrete work, and he is a great guy to work with that knows his stuff. 901-212-6696.

Swampman:
was not trying to be ugly; but what you posted would be really good pricing.

thanks guys, this info helps me greatly. I have a 3 acre tract of commercial property with a perfect 12,000 square foot slab and have a potential buyer. I am asking less for the whole place than what the slab and parking lot would cost to pour but had no idea what it would cost to pour a slab this size. I really appreciate yall going to the trouble of providing with some guidance. I am only asking $65,000 for the whole place so I know now that would be a fair price.... Thanks again.
