Not in a tube I hope. I've canoe-camped several different stretches and always had a good time. I have seen more gators in the Big Black than any other stream in the area that we canoe.

I don't know what part of the river you are floating but be careful to avoid any old trotline hooks. The north part of that river near Poplar Creek is dangerous.

can be lots of funwhen its got water, when its low it can be an awful lotta work, i have been down several stretchs in a canoe and camped, stretches of it definatly have a few gator, and +1 don on the trot lines, there are alot of'm that aren't marked and they are at all levels, high and low water be especially careful when going under branches or leaning trees, they are prone to have some very well hidden hooks

I've done I-20 to Hwy 27, Hwy 27 to Fisher Ferry, and Fisher Ferry to Hwy 61. Fisher Ferry to Hwy 61 is my favorite stretch (depending on water level) due to the wildlife, different rock formations, and the old Hankinson Ferry Bridge.

When I was a kid we use to float the Yazoo at Greenwood on innertubes but never on cheap pool floats.
