sad day

Postby benelli870 » Sun Dec 05, 2010 3:52 pm

boys, this is the one of the worst days of mine and my familys lives, we had to to put my lab drake down,he was 10 years old and I thought he had many years left in him, this dog loved me and i inturn loved him, everyday i would cast him down my driveway and he would proudly bring me the paper , it was like he knew what i was thinking he loved popcorn and during the summer months we would BBQ i woud give him a little bud light, wherever i went he was with me, my wife and i both have a very empty feeling, everywhere i look in my home there is a constant reminder of him, anyway thanks for letting me get some of this out, those of you all that has the wonderful dogs know what I am saying, and one more thing one week tuesday, my buddy and i were hunting and island on beaver lake, my buddy shot a greenhead and drake made his last retrieve, as fate would have it my buddy kept the duck for a mount, we took pics that day. thanks for letting me tell my story, good luck to all this season , and be safe .

So sorry. We've all gone through this too many times. Its a shame dogs don't live any longer than they do. God bless Drake.

Man... I'm sorry to hear such sad news... Keep those good memories close to your heart because ultimately that is what will help you deal with your buddys passing... Reflections of the time y'all spent together will eventually, again, bring a smile to your heart!
I lost my buddy of almost 14 yrs summer of 09 and despite the daily tears and pain of missing him, I still manage a smile when I think back on all the adventures and friends that I made because of him...

Hate to hear that man. Glad you got pics of that last hunt and that the bird is now a mount. That would always be a good reminder. Sounds like he had a good time with you.
