Question for the Game Warden/MSDWFP
Re: Question for the Game Warden/MSDWFP
Everyone is on the edge right now about the levee. When you have armed homeland security agent telling you to turn around there is an issue. They have every law enforcement agency that can trying to keep people off the levee. If it gets bad enough the national guard will be manning check points with M-16's

Re: Question for the Game Warden/MSDWFP
I Agree the levees are very important and are closed for a good reason, but I can't see this being just about the levee. Why position your resources (DHS) miles away from any levee, at one point of entry, when there are endless points of entry in the Yokena stretch alone? If this is about the levee why not concentrate your limited resources where they can be of most use? All you have to do is drive down 61 south of Vicksburg to see one DHS agent isn't going to do much good to protect a levee several miles away. Of course a lot of what our government does doesn't make much sense.

Re: Question for the Game Warden/MSDWFP
Guys i am going to try and answer this for you. We are operating in an emergency situation right now, we are concerned about several issues. First we are attempting to stop ALL traffic on the water at this time. We cant set there and check id's to determine who may or may not have a cabin, land or home in these areas. We cannot tell, just because someone has property, if they are sorry enough to loot their neighbor, if we keep everyone out we can better secure your property, most people who are attempting to go into these areas are simply wanting to take pictures and ride around to look. Second we are having issues with power lines below Vicksburg. There is a main line that is required to have 18 ft or so clearance to stay on. Entergy has told me this is a 500 k volt line that has a 16 ft striking distance and it will kill you and anyone around you. This line is feeding a large number of people and businesses that depend on it and if we cannot maintain security in these areas they are required to shut it down. Third when people are riding around in boats in these areas they are washing water into homes creating more stress on the people who are already suffering a loss. Fourth, we have all we can do right now trying to stage in areas to help people in case of a levee breach, we do not have the time or manpower to be searching for drowning victims or people who have gone back in these areas. Please help us and stay out of these areas during these trying times.

Thanks stevea. These are the same people that would be crying about the looters if you guys were not there. They would be blaming the government and sayin that they should have sent people to guard their property. Be safe and thanks for all your efforts. Some of us really appreciate it.

I'm looking for a link - but Haley Barbour has just issued an order prohibiting all boating in all effected counties - ms river and all tributaries.
Of course, this is not official until I have proof.
