Just bought a macbook pro about 3 weeks ago and it's been great. First mac I've ever owned so learning the differences between a mac and a PC has been a struggle at times but it's not too bad. I have a dell latitude e6400 at work and I haven't had any problems with it yet, knock on wood. My dad and brother-in-law have one too and they've been pleased with it. My old laptop at home is a lenovo. Fail. I'll likely not go back to a PC at home. I have to use one at work. I'm still working on getting everything converted from PC to mac at home but so far it's been pretty easy. I can see now why all the A/V guys use macs.

I purchased an HP for my daughter as a graduation present.

Went to their website, and designed it with what she needed for college.
Memory, programs, etc.
Had it within a week. cost about $1100

LENOVO !! I have 3 of them. These laptops are built to last and priced reasonably. You buy on-line at www.lenovo.com Very important, Lenovo has the best customer service by far.

Do not buy Dell anything! Junk and horrible customer service, the absolute worst!

Got an Asus laptopfor way, way less than a comparable Dell and loving it.

I would like to just work on a mac for a few weeks to get comfortable with one, and think I might then swap over.

Another vote for Mac. Typing this on iPad 2. Slick little deal for sure, and for the money one of the best options IMO. 'cept it won't run flash...yet... I'm not sure why the two companies won't play nice together, but surely they'll work something out sooner or later.

Bought a Sony a few months ago for work on the road, mainly visio drawing, cad stuff and spreadsheets. At home it's all Mac though from phones to desktop, and even apple tv. To me they're leaps and bounds above everyone else and keep setting the bar higher.

I love the fact that no matter what camera I plug into Mac it doesn't need a disk or driver... nothing, it just works.

The Sony is nice though and hasn't given me any problems.
