I'm partial to Bose because I have it in my truck and my home and I use the head phones. Just don't get any better IMO, but..... You can still get quality sound for less.
Re: Ask Duck South surround sound system
Hated a samsung I got for Christmas...enhanced the sound but did not crank. My brothers Bose system CRANKS, but, was not cheap. I got the kid a gaming chair that sounds REALLY good and was affordable ![Wink ](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Self powered sub is a great addition to any system. You can take a relatively simple system, add a decent sub and you'll be amazed at the difference.

I have a Samsung system, and love it.

I have the Bose Cinemate Series II speaker system and am very pleased. Runs about $600 but very easy to setup..doesnt require running a bunch of wires throughout the room.

I picked up an older Bose cd player from a guy and used the AUX OUT from my Direct TV receiver and the AUX IN on the Bose and use it as a sound bar. That little Bose really does a good job.

Re: Ask Duck South surround sound system
Almost everything on the market that is made specifically for "surround sound" is better than bose. Like said above......Bose markets well.......with that being said, I have a set of bose noise cancelling headphones and my aviation headset is Bose. They are great. If you want "surround sound" though for a home theater, living room, etc. You'll hear names like Sunfire, Boston Acoustics, Klipsch. I'd get a good reciever for a couple of hundred dollars....preferably Onkyo and then a set of Boston Acoustics like the ones i'll copy and paste off of ebay. A system like that will blow Bose away.

I'm running a Yamaha receiver with JBL Speakers and Sub. Fanstastic stuff and not too costly.

I have 2. One is a complete Yamaha System. It's a little older but nice. For my media room I have a Pioneer receiver with Klipsch speakers and sub.. That thing rocks. Klipsch make a good quality speaker for reasonable money. It's what most movie theaters use. But you have to buy a spe receiver/amp
