Gun value question for the experts?

Postby GreenheadJim » Tue Jul 03, 2012 11:25 am

I've got a Browning BBR 270 with a Leupold 3x9x40 scope that I am trying to sell. I've got it in the classified section but am only getting really lowball offers. They have them on Gunbroker anywhere between $500-$700 without a scope. My gun looks just as good and better than some on there. What should I ask? Or I might want to trade at a pawnshop or gunshop for a pistol for my wife. What would be a reasonable price to ask?

I've always had better luck selling guns in the Market Bulletin. You should try that. It's free if your a memeber and if your not it will cost you $10/yearly to join

There is a group on facebook called "North Mississippi Gun Traders" you can join. There is a lot of activity on that page.

Here's my .02cents -

Best to wait until Sept/Oct to sell the gun to max-out your sale price. Kind of like trying to sell a ski boat in December - just not a big market.
Son, be sure to check the oil. The gas will take care of itself. George Carter - Circa 1965

A better estimate would be to look gun that SOLD on gunbroker, rather that look at asking prices. Also depends on what model Leupold you have.

Wait and sell before season. Bubba will get out in back yard with 30-30 and get pissed off because he can't hit nothing and he will give you asking price. Guys that are low balling you now are looking to do same thing

I have looked at your classified and almost called you. That's a great price but not everyone is familiar with that model, and it's not in the latest magnum caliber so it doesn't have a wide appeal.

I agree with the others that have suggested to expand the listing to other places.

If it was in the July gun buying budget I would buy it, it is one of Brownings unknown gems.
