Beaver help

Postby YazooValley » Mon Feb 01, 2010 10:57 am

I need to thin out some beavers around my Dad's house. His dog is constantly in and out of the pond. Can't risk hurting a dog. I'm guessing you can't catch beavers in a Have-a-Heart type trap. Any suggestions?

Quick lime the runs, and it'll kill'em all...but you'll have to keep the dog out of that, too. Makes their hair fall out, blinds them, and pretty much tortures them/freezes them to death...but some of the old hands used to do it on occasion around here to completely get rid of them.

3 gal. diesel/3 gal. gas - at mid-day, when they're napping inside, pour mixture into and over top of hutch - back off about 100 feet, preferrably behind a tree - ignite it with a Roman candle - if the blast doesn't kill them, the fire will - but, have your gun handy, if
any try to escape - easy to shoot them because they will be punch-drunk and hairless....hutch will then burn down to the water level.
