Metrocast vs. ATT u-verse

Postby Gunslinger » Thu Sep 05, 2013 6:39 pm

Moving to Oxford, and trying to decide between the two for home internet and tv service. Appreciate any input Family uses the internet pretty heavy at the same time between a desktop, two laptops and an I-pad. I cannot stand slow downloads. Television service will see limited use, but must have the sports channels. I have ATT as a cell carrier, so might be able to bundle to save a few dollars, but mainly interested in the internet service reliability and speed. Any suggestions?

i've got u-verse and love the tv service. I pay an extra 10 bucks a month to get the extra sports channels but its worth it to me. It includes the outdoor channel as well :D . the only college football games i usually miss are the ones on CSS but with the watch espn app for ipad it usually isn't an issue. $50 HDMI adapter at the apple store and you are watching it on your tv. watched just about every baseball game in the sec tournament that way. I went with the "up to" 12mbps downstream and it is enough to stream a live baseball game with very little lag time if any.

i've been looking at the same exact question this past week. After talking with several, most are going with ATT dsl. I have directv at home so may stick with that and the att dsl myself. Someone said there's also comcast in parts of Oxford. I know there's Metrocast and ATT though.

DO NOT use metrocast. Simply put, they suck. Unfortunately there is about a 4 week wait to set up U-verse in Oxford right now, because so many people are switching. We're looking at saving around $100 a month with the switch.

This should not be the case, if it is I might can put in an escalation. U-verse is to have a 24-48 hour work request.

Also, ask that your U-verse be installed as a network, not using any coax. This is the way we are going, but some have not gone 100% network.

I can also put in a request for your U-verse if I have your information.
