Saturdays games
I can't believe there isn't one post on the forum about some of today's games.... There is plenty to talk about, State finally winning a close game, Ole Miss losing to Missouri and it not being as close as everyone thought, Florida losing to Georgia Southern? Will Muschamp keep his job? Baylor is no longer unbeaten as well. This place is dead.

Don't forget Oregon getting thumped by an unranked team.

I am interested in purchasing duck calls that were made by Mike McLemore. I am a family member and they have a sentimental value.

Re: Saturdays games
Yea I forgot about those two games as well, LSU showed to me why the NFL may not be a great place for Manziel, they put really good pressure on him and he made mistakes. On Sunday he will be playing against faster players and better DBs that won't allow you to just throw it up and wait on Evans to make the play.
Oregon, well it was bound to happen, they lose one or two every year that they should not. Stanford should have beat them, Arizona shouldn't have if they were as good as everyone said, and they didn't just win, they gave them a beat down.
Another one I left out, what about Vandy beating TN, not really a major upset, but with TN playing a little more competitively this year they needed this one to try and get over the hump and on their way back up.

I think most everyone is still "shell shocked" from last nite! Ole Misery finally played a good team that was ready for em and didn't take em for granted! That stadium seemed mighty quiet on TV last nite! I don't think Ole Miss will win another ballgame this year!

Re: Saturdays games
Oregon and Baylor= all fluff no substance. Johnny Football's reckless play was bound to catch up with him eventually and it has lead to injuries and turnovers this year. Not surprised by Ole Miss losing but thought it would have been more of a shoot out. I guess people are starting to figure out that Ole Miss offense and they don't have any type of power run game for short yardage or goal. Surprised to see State win in OT since they usually don't seem to be able to close games out. They usually play good early then blow it late maybe this will give them confidence to finish out more games.

Re: Saturdays games
Some of us actually hunt, and some of us actually attend these football games and thus aren't here to simultaneously entertain you with our usual posts. I was in the latter group, spending most of the day on the UM campus.
Nice win for MSU over the Hogs. That was like watching a toothless Hog and toothless dog fight over a piece of red meat. Ugly. Still, a win is a win is a win. The AR coach ain't too bright.
Muschump will likely be shown the door after losing to a Georgia Southern team that did not complete a single pass. What happened to that great Florida defense?
The Rebs, in just year two under Freeze, are not quite there yet. We lost last night to a better team. There were plays we could have/should have made, but just didn't. The MO defense had a lot to do with that, based upon what I saw first hand. Bo and our receivers were just not hitting on all cylinders for whatever reasons. Frustrating to watch, but still enjoying watching this Rebel program progress. MO is a very good team. Nothing for the Rebels to hang their heads over. Yes, we need a big RB or two to get those tough yards in the red zone against the better defenses in the SEC. That is a missing piece of the puzzle for our offense. Help is on the way.
Watched portions of LSU game in the Grove at the hot redhead's nearby tailgate. LSU played well. While very capable of blowing out good teams, TAM's poor D will keep them from being consistent. Not surprising that LSU won the game.

Uh...... No.
Just amazed at the posts about the lack of posts. If I want to start a discussion about a topic, then I just start a thread about that topic. I don't lead into it by fussing at or making fun of others for not doing it before I do.
Some of us go to these games. And these late games end late. And we get home late. And then we sleep in. And on top of that, its the MS season opener for ducks and the first full weekend for deer with guns --- and I probably should have been at the hunting camp instead of the UM game ---- I've gotten too old to try to do both on same day.
We have some folks here --- Rebs and Dogs --- with plenty to say. But many are pre-occupied with other pursuits at the moment. And I suspect that more would post more if there weren't such a strong negative, ridiculing presence here from a small faction of fans from one particular fan base. But that is another topic/ can of worms for another day.

Re: Saturdays games
I will say one thing Po Monk and see if you agree with me. I have been to every home game and a quite a few away games since Freeze took over. Now with all that said, besides Alabama this year which Alabama had way more talent, I have never seen a game like last night where we missed out on every critical opportunity to get momentum swinging our way. Missouri is talented in places, especially in the trenches, but their DB's were average at best. Wallace never looked Vince Sanders way all night and #31 that was covering him most of the night couldn't cover him. I know we never really got the running game going to open up the pass, but we are better than we played. We are going to have to find some fast LB's. Marry is slow and couldn't cover sideline to sideline and Mizzou exposed that weakness. I don't understand why we didn't do the same.
I know one thing, if we play flat like last night and with MSU fighting for a bowl with their fans getting emotionally into the game, we could lose in Starkville Thursday.

Re: Saturdays games
I was just making a comment about how quiet the board had been. I'm extremely sorry if I offended anyone who was busy at the game of the century or the most important weekend of the year for deer/ duck hunters. Had a wedding to attend and was bored last night since I couldn't be at the duck camp or deer stand or that the team I pull for played 500 miles away. Besides, it seems that most posts these days come off of mobile devices, and the general discussion and waterfowl forum were bumpin so there was no reason for me to believe that the sports forum was off limits. Next time I will wait until Monday morning before we have any meaningful sports discussion.

Re: Saturdays games
I don't remember a whole lot of the game. The whiskey that was keeping me warm, back fired on me. I know Bo has the flu and thats why he wasn't playing in the 2nd half very much. Freeze said at half his eyes were glazed over and he had a high fever. Not making excuses for the Rebels getting beat. Just letting everyone know. Moncrief HAS to stop dropping the ball. Dropped a TD, then Logan stepped out on that TD. The big swing plays just went against us last night.
Also that wind was BRUTAL coming through the North end of the stadium. I will honestly say that is one of the top 5 coldest moments of my life. It was miserable. Hopefully Bo will be healthy for the Egg Bowl, and this offense will get back on track.

Re: Saturdays games
I would think the rebels have a better than average chance of beating state if they have to start that true freshman at QB, but it is a rivalry game and the dawgs will be fighting for a bowl game so could be interesting. May be the first time in a while that both teams come in really hungry and could make for one heck of a game.

For gods sake don't EVER do that again. Make sure you also get approval from PMS before posting ANYTHING again.hillhunter wrote:I was just making a comment about how quiet the board had been. How dare you ask a question like that. Don't you know people have better things to do.
I am thankful that I now know why more people don't post...and when the correct times to post are.
Sounds like somebody's just mad they spent another Saturday chasing dreams of their eternal mediocre football team winning a big game, only to come up way short. Should have been hunting instead....

Re: Saturdays games
Or, as I suggested, you could simply start a thread about a topic you wish to discuss without all the insinuations about others' lack of posting --- or not.
