NCAA Baseball rules question

Postby Smoke68 » Mon Apr 07, 2014 8:52 am

What are the rules about announcing lineups prior to games and what is the reasoning behind those rules? Leading up to the MSU/LSU weekend, there were several changes made on both sides. Cohen seemed to want Mitchell pitching on a different night than Nola, I'm guessing for the obvious reason that he wanted to hedge his bets and try to take at least one in Baton Rouge.

Every lineup change Cohen made, however, was reasoned with some type of medical excuse. Then LSU responded with lineup changes that kept Nola vs. Mitchell. So my question is: Why don't they just shutup with all the announcements, hand in their lineup card immediately before gametime and get on with it?

Cohen's lineup for the weekend was set. Mainieri is the one that started the game playing with the lineups. Nola wasn't supposed to throw Fri.

No rules as I understand it. Policy maybe but no rules. The lineup can change for a number of reasons right up until you walk out to home plate and hand it to the umpire. For sure it made sense to pitch Ross on a different night than Nola. You have to go into the series hoping to get one win in Baton Rouge. We could not do that despite the match-up we wanted.
Are we gonna get wet?
