Need some advice re: traffic tickets in Madison

Postby DoubleBandMS » Sun Apr 27, 2014 4:05 pm

I was pulled over by a Madison County sheriff today that said he followed me and that I ran 2 stop signs. I havnt had any ticket in 17 years and this was in a subdivision. Can someone give me some advice on what to do short of just paying both the tickets. Driving school, etc? I'm not happy

Paying the fine will be your best option....if those stop signs were in a subdivision with school zones, the cop may be doing you a favor, by only citing you for running regular stop signs.

Cops usually don't have any mercy, with school zone violations....just saying.

Yeah, I guess I'm just bothered by the fact this guy didn't pull me over after the first one he said I didn't stop and only to wait to say I did it again. That's bs.

He was probably going to cut you some slack on the first one until you showed signs of a pattern...

George - driving school will keep the tickets off your record, but you'll still pay the fine & school fee.
You can try going to court & hope the officer is not present. If not, they will throw it out, but that's a risk.

Even though it was "just in a subdivision" that subdivision is probably full of little kids that can dart out of nowhere. Just SLOW YOUR booty DOWN AND STOP AT THE STOP SIGNS. That goes for everyone not just the OP. Is getting somewhere a minute or two quicker worth the risk of hurting a kid? Pay the tickets and move on. Off my soap box now.

I was only asking for advice not your sanctimonious rant about children, Ronny. I did stop, plain and simple. Nobody was hurt or injured and I sure as hell was not speeding. I simply stated it was IN a subdivision not JUST a subdivision. Thanks Stacy, that was my question if I could simply go to driving school. I did not endanger anyone. Always guilty on this board now I guess.

Yes sir was not a shot at you just everyone in general. I have just seen kids get almost hit by people just checking up or not stopping in our subdivision as well as others. Original question I would just pay them. Got one in Flowood one time and had an unnamed person in the business say as long as you keep paying your auto insurance on time they don't usually go out and check your driving record again.

One of the first thing I was taught as a kid, and I teach my dogs too, is not to play in the street :D

I live on a busy highway and my dog wont even get close to it!

Unless you get a new ride or change providers, right?
I'm not condoning running stop signs in neighborhoods or anywhere, but if you happen to roll through one after looking (which I figure we've all done) & get a ticket, there are other options.

The first time I met you we played in the street, a few yards, a park, and over a few street signs....
