Finally - a well dressed Wal-Mart shopper
Just a housewife out shopping in Alaska
No permit required in Alaska for either open carry
(must be 18) or concealed carry (must be 21)
CHECK THEIR CRIME RATE, LOWEST IN OUR NATION!
Why would that be???
NOT one school shooting either!

I am glad she is carrying, but I don't understand her carry option..
She is carrying a 1911 and in either condition 2 or 3 which makes no sense. She does not even have the right holster to even carry in Condition 1, which if your going to carry a 1911 is how it is supposed to be carried. Assuming it is a 45ACP, it is likely to much gun for here to handle in a true self defense scenario, and if she had to fire it one handed would likely jam on her.
When I see something like this it is like seeing a newbie duck hunter.. They are likely just doing it because it is the in thing to do...

what's that on her other side going to be, most likely...badge?..magazines?..multi-tool?..flip phone?
looks to have some "guns" on her, as well, but the one on her side is too big for that belt!!

I don't know all the specifics, but it all looks for show. Hard to imagine that lady doing much to un-holster and handle that pistol before a aggressor "overcame" her...of course, the view of a large firearm on her hip might just be enough for a dumbarsed ninja that can't think straight...cwink wrote:I am glad she is carrying, but I don't understand her carry option..

Usually something with a retaining strap or thumb break strap that would keep the hammer from falling on the firing pin..

You guys might should be careful saying she is not capable of handling that pistol. She might just whip the both of you.

cwink you make a lot of assumptions without knowing any facts. got to be careful jumping to conclusions.

Sometimes you just have to close your eyes, count to ten, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you wouldn't look good in prison stripes... and just smile at that dumbass and walk away.

Not many of those in Alaska. Also helps with the crime rate being so low.
How do you like your Hope and Change?
Re: Finally - a well dressed Wal-Mart shopper
You are correct, but my assumptions are based on experiences I have seen on the range.. I have yet to see a woman that has enough hand strength to adequately handle the slide of a full sized 45 on the range. Most of them can't adequately handle the slide on a 9mm. I would give her the benefit of the doubt if I could tell she had some experience or training, but based on her mode of carry I can almost safely assume she doesn't have any formal training. The first thing to go in a life threatening situation is fine motor skills and cocking the hammer on a 1911 is a fine motor skill. So in this situation is someone were to come up behind her and grab her, she would have to unholster, turn, pull the hammer back and fire if she has a round chambered.. If she doesn't have one chambered then she would have to unholster, turn, rack the slide and fire.. All of which are extremely hard to do one handed.MemphisStockBroker wrote:cwink you make a lot of assumptions without knowing any facts. got to be careful jumping to conclusions.

That right there tells me she doesn't have any formal personal defense training or experience.
Look, I was that guy, the one that shot guns for over 30 plus years before getting into Personal Defense. I thought just because I "knew guns" that I could handle anything... Boy was I wrong, and had to swallow alot of pride to understand that.

I had to reread that to determine if he was being funny or there was some new slang in the gun world that i was oblivious to.
