+1 and $50

Question - the drake Columbia style shirts with the "soft feeling" material. How do they do in the heat?

Colombia silver ridge shirts are great, also. they don't look like the fishing shirts and are just as cool with less noticeable vents in the back

Any type of polyester moisture management type shirt should be good when it is hot. When it is 98+ plus in the summer with high humidity then there is not much you can do to help. If I am just wearing a $#!+, not for hot weather, then I like some sort of cotton/poly blend that is softer or ring spun cotton if it is 100% cotton.

This. I like the World Wide Sportsman from Bass Pro just as much as Columbia, and they cost somewhere around $25-30. They are perfect for working in.

The button up ones I have ain't worth a damn in the heat. They don't seem to breathe as well as Columbia and the WWS shirts that I have.

60%/40% blend wife-beater-- in white, of course.

I've tried the synthetic materials and they did not work at all for me....burned up....I will not wear anything but cotton/linen. Synthetic fibers tend to be water-repellent, they allow sweat to build up, reducing evaporation. Natural fibers (cotton, linen) are generally better at soaking up moisture from the skin and allowing it to evaporate from the outer surface.........JMO

That has been my experience as well. Just curious if I was the only one. I figured if it was nice in cool weather it wasn't gonna be worth a dang in the heat.

I used to wear Columbia fishing shirts, but their prices are too high for a "work shirt." The last couple years I have been buying these thin, cotton shirts from Belk (can't go wrong for $14):
