Adding rear Entertainment in Vehicle

Got my wife another ride.

we want to add rear entertainment for the kids - what are my options?

would like to add integrated phone as well. Bluetooth over the speakers, and a usb input plug would be nice

You can add a new in dash head unit for as cheap or expensive as you want to go. I added blue tooth, usb, with voice and hands free synce with my phone to my old 2004 Ford for about $350. Its an alpine unit. On the rear entertainment, I dont have kids, so Im not up to date on that. You can get tv's in the rear of your headrest that will play through your head unit. I personally would like to sit up front and listen to the radio and have the kids speakers play what they are listening to. My advice is consult a car stereo place and price what you want.

Assuming you have 2 children, just get two portable DVD players and some head phones. Much easier and you can go from car to car. They can change the DVD's themselves

We did the small (cheap) DVD player for our son. We are on our 2nd one b/c the first one broke. And it is still WAY less expensive and more convenient than the OEM or aftermarket options for built-in units. And he can take it from my wife's, to mine, to grandmothers car, or inside even.

We bought a 2 screen player from best buy when we had our first and now we are using the second with our 10 month old. It works great and when the kids are with their grand parents it stays with them. Less than $100.

The downfall of having on installed is that it is always there and they will ask for it all the time. Even on short trips. We had rear DVD in our acadia and did not want it when we got a new vehicle. We only put ours up now if we are going on a longer trip.

I am more interested in the integrated blue tooth phone than anything.

I got a quote on a JVC in Dash DVD player with Bluetooth iphone ready/XM radio/usB input/ Aux input, plus two rear in headrest monitors for $1100

Your bluetooth phone hook up is as simple as replacing the head unit, running wires, and pairing the device. Who are you getting prices from? The car audio market isnt as hot as it used to be and there arent as many stores around. I have been pleased with Audio Central on lakeland and Pro Audio on 49s. Ive learned enough over the years to tackle most stuff myself.
