F&F boats
It's my understanding that F&F is no longer in business. I'm going to call tomorrow to make sure. But my boat is in need of a paint job and if they can no longer do it I thought I would do it. What brand of olive drab paint should use? The lady at my local paint store suggested epoxy primer that is gray green. I'm wanting to get as close to original as I can. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Thought you were dead buddy! Guess the rain has you out of the cave. Check out metro camo in Arkansas. It's not as much as you would expect.

Called F&F this morning. They use a paint from Sherwin Williams called Kem 400 enamel. Called my local store and they can't get it. Looking for a substitute now.

Re: F&F boats
if its to the bare alum, get a self etching primer to start. Only way that paint will stick worth anything to alum.
Looking for 2 duck calls from Dominic Serio of Greenwood (ones for Novacaine)

Re: F&F boats
Used to buy some sort of clear epoxy primer that you spray on the bare aluminum and then paint with a waterbase paint. Bought it at sherwin williams in cleveland from joe ellis. Was skeptical at first but did several boats this way and it works well.
+1 on the new self etching primers though, painted a piece of new aluminum tread plate a month ago and thats all I could find to stick.
the doc

That thread was from 2002 - maybe they've corrected some flaws in production since then.

You can get KEM 400 from sherwin Williams industrial/chemical coatings store. They have one in Jackson. Can't get it from a "normal" sherwin Williams...
