Thanks.
I was just recalling a memorable hunt........and it was all about 'the details' and completely fooling the ducks.......with oak limbs......
I agree it's kinda 'slow' around here.........
Sam Clemens said "life is what happens while you were making plans" - lotta truth to that.
Here's a view of the boat blind with broom sedge, baccharis, and natural grass........
Not many folks go to that much trouble to 'hide'..........Bummer
.....but then, here's another tight hole......like 15 yds across and 30 yds long..........AND a boat. This hunt was over in less than 10 minutes........using cane and grass. Yes......it's a boat blind. And the amazing thing is......they pitched-in over our heads from behind us....which meant they had a bird's-eye view of the entire hole.........and never knew we were there.
The dog ('Sprig') was so mad that the hunt was that short, that when we got home and I let my Brittany out of the kennel, she jumped him and had him down by the throat. Sprig was serious about her duck hunting.
So, there's a variety of things to 'hide' behind.....cane, oak limbs, grasses, bushes........just have to be creative. But the main thing.....the more natural it looks.....the better your chances.
Bottom line - Black holes and white faces don't cut-it.
