Postby DoublePslayer » Tue Jun 24, 2014 8:06 pm

Anyone know where I can find a metal drum fairly clean near Grenada?

Only long enough for the acid to do its work.

Boy did this thread hit a tangent.

All of the above! :D But going to try an ugly drum smoker first. Maybe a still later.

Cool. I've built a few of those.

I get my drums from a fuel/oil distributor (White Oil in Aberdeen). New, unlined barrels run $25 and are worth it for not having to deal with either the red or tan liners. You can't burn those liners out. I had one barrel glowing and the liner survived... it is now a trash/brush burning barrel.

This is my current UDS. I've added another rack at the top of the drum since this pic.

I need to finish the cart and paint the whole thing.

That's what I was thinking. I saw it on Facebook the other day and it looks pretty easy and fairly cheap. Google "ugly drum smoker," and you will find a ton of different plans for it. "They" claim you can hold 225 for about 12 hours with it. If I can find a drum, I'm going to try it out.
