I switched from aluminum to ss about two years ago. I have hit a lot of stuff, but i am seldom going above idle speed in areas I know have stumps, etc. Better handling and less vibration at the tiller with ss.

I stay with al simply because I DO hit stuff at speed. We have a lot of submerged trees on the lower leaf river, and we run it usually around half throttle. I have a 25 Johnson.
