A lot of things go into how much your car tag is going to cost. Local tax rates, school bonds, county and municipality populations, tax basis, other taxes, etc. That is why it costs more for the same exact vehicle in Lee county than it does in Hinds county.
For example, Clarksdale is THE highest car tag tax rate in the state. Not only do they have a fairly low population of tax payers and car owners, but they have a very large area protected by the levee (which is one of the taxes on the tag), several school bonds for both county and city, and a whole host of other fun little charges. (That is why, when I was living in Water Valley and spoke with a friend of mine who lived in Clarksdale, I found that we had each bought the exact same vehicle within about a month of each other. My car tag was over $400.00, and his was almost 3 times that amount. Ain't government wonderful.)
Coahoma co. taxpayers have not payed an advalorem tax to the levee district since 1994........................................
But in 2015, this will change.....................just say in
Well since we are gonna pay more taxes can we get some of that nice white rock on the north end of the county like they did the south?
