Shark Week

Postby hillhunter » Sun Aug 10, 2014 10:21 pm

Who else can't turn it off? Ever since I was a kid I get fascinated by the shows. Probably one of the most studied and least understood animals on the planet, next to the duck of course,

It's been like a holiday at my house for 20 years. That said, the last two years these fictitious "research movies" have near about caused Shark Week to jump the shark for me. Why can't they simply present shows on the latest research like they used to?

I didn't watch it last night. Figured it would be some more bs just like that Mega shark last year. They've obviously received some backlash about past episodes to completely change the direction of the show. They'll find bigfoot before the real shark week ever comes back.

Yea I thought it was pretty good, but they took way too long to tell the story.

I enjoyed the submarine shark episode as well. Wondered how real some of that footage really was though? Some looked real, but alot of it looked VERY fake.

Hammerheads are pretty sweet. Unless you are a tarpon, you are pretty much safe around them too. I've never seen one, but I've caught one of their brethren, bonnethead, while fishing for bonefish in Key West. Very cool looking, just a miniature version. They are all over the place down there.

It's amazing when flats fishing down there how many sharks you see. I was a bit paranoid afterwards when swimming off the beach. They were all over the shallows we fished, and knew the beaches we swam would have just as many. I'm don't get nervous around many animals, but I don't trust sharks and cows, even though I am very fascinated by sharks. I do hate cows though.

So whats the story on the cows? Something had to of happened to you at a young age to develop such hate. I can think of many animals I don't trust and cows aren't even in the top twenty. So share the story.
