best mod I have ever done on a utility trailer - can be used for a tie down - or winching items on to trailer.
I hope its the camera angle, but that looks like a busted knuckle waiting to happen with the handle so close to the rail. Ouch just looking at it.
One recommendation (same goes with boats), always wrap your strap under the drum. Above the drum as picutred allow for more freeplay, even when tight. Wrapped under the drum and freeplay is up to the drum, plus the strap angle changes and more constant downward pressure with the strap under. I say this because I had a problem with the bow of my bay boat seeming loose on the trailer. Good bump on our great LA roadways and felt like the bow was coming off the bow roller. My strap was on top the drum them. I unwound the strap and rewound to under the drum and no problems since. Now the strap pulls down on the hook and pulls the bow down into the roller. Before it as just straight and tight, but no downward force.
NO busted Knuckles - its got 5-6" clearance. been on there for 3-4 years now - and the strap came on the winch from walmart.
Cool, must be the angle of the picture.
