We did well until a 5pm afternoon thunder boomer rolled in... rain was sideways. Atleast it cooled it down but made it a muddy mess.

Smoked them in Tennessee. Season started at noon in TN and I got out there around 4. Most people were finishing their limits as I got there. The birds were flying like nuts until I set up. People had stopped shooting and the birds were settling down. I still managed 15 in 45 mins, but it was bananas as I pulled up and walked out. It was my buddy's first dove hunt and it took him much longer, but he got his 15 eventually.

Got my limit, wife got 11, it was her 2nd dove hunt ever, and she was useing a new gun. i'm super proud of her, bought her a Stoger M3020, that is one fine shooting 20ga., she shot 3 boxes of shells and didnt get a bruise or sore shoulder.

Have hunted a paid field for several years now that only has afternoon hunts. Was ok but not great as in years past. Decided about 3 pm that me and the dog can't/won't take that heat anymore. Like Clint Eastwood says, a man has got to know his limitations, and a self-inflicted heat stroke for a chance to miss a dove is no longer a priority.

Too hot for a dog for sure (most dogs anyhow). My dog is mostly and inside dog, and having her work hard in 95 degree weather would not be smart.OBoykin wrote:Have hunted a paid field for several years now that only has afternoon hunts.
