Guys....I had an outfitter try to and might have

Postby Barq's » Sun Sep 07, 2014 4:51 pm

Well...
I tried to lock down some dates with an outfitter that is north of us. Long story short...."I need you credit card info to run the deposit of $1500.00 to lock in your dates"....within 8 hours, I was called and told that the money wasn't sent and then asked to wire the original $1500.00 to his bank. Well, I was on vacation and turned over the process to my best friend....My buddy, without me knowing, tried to wire his bank another 1500.00 without knowing where the original credit card money was at.

Thank God that the wire transfer didn't go through and was kicked back. His card was charged the original 1500 last week, even though the outfitter was still screaming he needed "his money" to lock in the dates because he hadn't received any "payment"...Guys, my buddy could see that the guy was given the money because the credit card not only showed he was paid, but showed his name as being the recipient on top of he was paid within 24 hours of charging it. Over a week later...the man was still asking for another 1500 and seriously getting pissed off that his business was suffering because he could have sold the dates to two other parties.

The charge is being disputed and I hope that we get our money back. This is the absolute worst case of someone trying to screw me over financially since my last two divorces. I'm not going to mention his name or even the state that he operates in, but beware guys....just because someone has a website doesn't make them legit. Do your research and talk personally to people that have been on hunts with the operator. I paid my full amount up front and thought that I would have a good hunt....Instead, I have been sick to my stomach for the last week feeling that not only did I maybe get bent over, but that I might have gotten my buddies bent over to. I was at Disney world with my kids and couldn't even enjoy my time because of this butthole....

I paid a hell of a price making the money I did to only come home to Mississippi and have some other american try to steal from me. I pray that i don't have to drive 8 hours to stand in front of a Judge and have to plead my case to get my money back. I have the utmost faith in the judicial system, I just don't want to have to depend on it to right what was wronged.

If this guy tried to get double the money, I'd mostly definitely share the name with us so we don't do business with a crook.

+1
If some animals are good at hunting and others are suitable for hunting, then the Gods must clearly smile on hunting.

pm me.....i don't want to get into a liable situation....It's already bad enough that our money is in limbo and I really don't want this guy turning the tables and trying to say I ruined his business....He has already made it a point to point out that by him trying to "help us" by saving our dates without the money that he hurt his chances of booking with "paying" clients.

It is indisputable when the charge shows that this guys name was paid $1530.00 on the 27th of August....Oh yeah, and when he complained how his "square account" charged him $30.00 per thousand....I told my buddy to go ahead and pay him $1530.00 instead of the $1500.00 requested trying to be a nice guy.

My buddy made the point that he was trying to get payment in full in case we decided to pull the plug (which we wouldn't have)....I seriously thought that we would have had a great hunt and a great time, but we couldn't even get past the actual payment without it hitting the fan. Within hours of the guy running the card, he was calling saying that he hadn't seen the money. What gets me is that he specifically told me how a "square" account works...He charges the fee...the money goes into an escrow account until square knows it's legit, then square sends the money to his bank (all which he told me takes at least a day, if not 2 or 3).

If I didn't know better, I would swear he has a drug problem, because no one that has a legitimate business would hound a paying client the way we were hounded....He all but called me a liar and my friend which just so happens to be in a position where he has judges that work under him....My friend is as legit as it comes and isn't the guy to mess with when it comes to legal issues.

And just so ya'll know....I wouldn't wish this on anyone and truly don't want ya'll to get burned. I just can't risk being sued by some jackleg in another state. After we paid him the money and the crap hit the fan, my buddy sent me a link to some other posts by other people that severely got screwed by this guy....to the tune that they drove 13 hours just to show up and be told that they were double booked by mistake and that they would have to pick different dates.

A ligit operation wouldn't operate this way. I've dealt with mom and pop operations and I've dealt with upscale operations all over the U.S. and Canada. Never have I had one be demanding. If they are legit and worth a damn, they have enough return business that they could fill the dates. It should have been a tip off that he told you that he needed the money NOW because he could have already booked the dates. I understand a 50% deposit but have never been asked to give a credit card number over the phone and certainly not asked to wire money. Legit outfitters don't operate this way. BTW, Did the guy you talked to have a middle eastern accent and was his name Peggy?

Don....I don't know about the accent but you just about nailed the name. This isn't in Ms, Louisiana, Arkansas, or Tennessee either.
