FDC 9/5151, issued under 14 CFR 99.7 on "Special Security Instructions," restricts flight over stadiums during major league baseball, National Football League, NCAA, and motor speedway events. The so-called “stadium TFR” prohibits stadium aircraft and parachute operations at or below 3,000 AGL within a 3 nm radius of any stadium with a seating capacity of 30,000 or more people when there is a major league baseball game, NFL game, NCAA division one football game, or major motor speedway event occurring. This TFR applies to the entire US domestic national airspace system, and takes effect from one hour before the scheduled event time until one hour after the event concludes.

Is that new? I just went through the FAR/AIM for a flight review and didn't see that part. I guess spring college baseball games are wide open.

Yep, baseball and basketball are ok. Watch out for Division I football. A quick internet search on NCAA and NFL football TFRs reveals a lot of pilot frustration about them. Often, flight briefers aren't even aware that they exist. Plus, since the times are related to the posted time of the event not only do you have to know to watch out for the posted gametime, but also weather delays and overtime can push the TFR to last much longer than expected.

Fortunately, with an AGL ceiling of 3,000 ft. most infractions would be from locals who would be aware of the game schedules anyways.

By the way, what's the first thing you do if you're flying along in a Cessna 150 and an F-16 pulls up beside you and rocks his wings? Slow to 60 knots :)

It may not be in the FAR/AIM, or it may be deep into a reg and hard to miss, but it is listed in the TFR section of FAA.gov. Here is the link if you want to read the entire thing. http://tfr.faa.gov/save_pages/detail_9_5151.html

That was against Bama. I was at that game. The wind was howling. One guy completely missed the stadium and landed a quarter mile away. One guy somehow managed to pull out a target landing without hitting the goal posts. And the guy that broke his leg just augured into 10 yard line. That whole crowd went silent that night.
Never assume.

Anybody see these folks at Gameday?
I am interested in purchasing duck calls that were made by Mike McLemore. I am a family member and they have a sentimental value.

I was there.
Even with the official numbers of 110,633 at Kyle Field today, I still think the biggest football crowd in MS in my lifetime was the 1980 State win over Bama. Hell, folks who weren't born until 1988 still say they were at that game. Got to be north of 200,000 by now.

/yeah, I still think the real record was the ASU/MVSU game back in 84/85.
