Cot recommendations?
Cot recommendations?
Headed to venice to camp out on side of Mississippi again and I'm tired of the small, useless paperthin mat. Looking to get a cot for this trip and to keep as extra pull out for whatever. I'm a big guy so it needs to be sturdy. Any recommendations?
Re: Cot recommendations?
I have the oversize cot from Bass Pro http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-O ... /10230921/
I love it. It was a great gift from my FIL. It sleeps better than my bed. When my second child was born I took it to the hospital with me to sleep on, so I wouldn't have to sleep on the hospital's hide-a-bed.

If you can find a military surplus cot, get it. Otherwise, don't get a little flimsy aluminum one. Make sure you get a pad for it. Winter air underneath a thin cot floor gets uncomfortable quickly.

Thanks. I looked at the BPS cot yesterday, but didn't want to spend the cash for something that would collapse with my almost 300lb self. Wingman - thanks for the pad idea. Totally slipped my mind that the air would be whipping through underneath.
If using inside a tent, would you recommend tennis balls to cover the feet so that they do not poke through tent? Or anything else?

Well VickDaddy, I am around 270 to be approx. Picked up a few lbs since reinjuring my back. Been out of commish for about 2 months with herniated disc/pinching sciatic nerve. Hopefully it will be healed up by duck season so I can show you how to shoot a duck.

Ill take you up on that offer now that im rehabilitated. Go ask your next door neighbor, he and his dad have a warehouse of camping gear or he can advise you on what to get. Per my friends, get the one with the most legs under it.
