Fuel tank question
I'm building an aluminum fuel tank for my boat. What size pick up line do I use for inside the tank? Any suggestions?
Re: Fuel tank question
Unless you plan on keeping that thing slap full of gas all the time it's going to sweat worse than a plastic tank does, which basically boils down to your tank manufacturing water in your gas. As far as your pick up line, I'm guessing the size/volume you would need depends on the size motor you will be running and If the fuel pump can keep up with the volume of gas needed to supply said engine. I'm sure there is a formula to use when trying to calculate this.GreenheadJim wrote:I'm building an aluminum fuel tank for my boat. What size pick up line do I use for inside the tank? Re: Fuel tank question
If I run a fuel/water separator, that will help with the water problem shouldn't it? It only going to be about a 4-5 gallon tank.blgros1 wrote:Unless you plan on keeping that thing slap full of gas all the time it's going to sweat worse than a plastic tank does, which basically boils down to your tank manufacturing water in your gas. Yes it will help. I have one on my 27LT with a plastic tank. But you still want to minimize water contamination in your gas as much as possible. If you do go with an aluminum tank I would figure out a way to insulate it as much as possible to limit the condensation build up, and keep it either always full or empty.
