Roofer suggestion???
I am on my 3rd roofer for a leaking dormer that is leaking to inside wall of my home. We have had to re paint 3 times now and dormer is still leaking. I get a different answer each time as to why it leaks. Now they say it is coming from behind the siding on the dormer and going behind flashing and coming down the wall inside. I want it fixed as I am just throwing money away now and getting nothing accomplished. Not sure if a roofer or contractor is needed to get to root of leak but want some sort of warranty since this keeps occurring. Very frustrating. Any suggestions appreciated

Insurance agent, not a roofer, but by chance is it a brick dormer?

Was tying to avoid a claim. It now I Beleive water is somehow getting behind the siding on the dormer and getting behind the flashing and coming inside. Problem is roofer has sent 2 different crews within a year and for 1200 bucks I still have a leaking roof and had to re paint the inside wall 3 times. Looks like we may have to file on insurance now because when I pulled some siding back above the flashing the plywood is rotting. He now advises some backing board instead of siding in case that's where it is leaking. It is not a brick dormer. We have a huge middle dormer and 2 dormers on the side. We found out after the purchase that one of the smaller dormers had leaked previously....this was a 2 year old house at the time. I will try and get wifey to post pics later today. Just not sure who to get to do the job at this point. Can it be fixed with existing siding to match the other siding we have on the sides of the home, which isn't much since it is mostly brick. But to put the new backing board etc on 3 dormers and replace plywood that is rotting etc seems to be a bigger job than the roofer/contractor I am using now. I need someone I can trust to do it right no matter what the cost since it appears we will file insurance
Just seems that if it hasn't been fixed the 2 times he has attempted to fix it that I will just keep paying each time he comes and accomplishing nothing. I had hoped he would have warrantied the work since it hasn't been a year since last attempted fix.

Contractor and roofer?? I need someone to warranty work. I am not happy with American roofing and contracting at this point.

Re: Roofer suggestion???
I wasnt going the route of filing an insurance claim in my comment, but I have seen several. Actually it is possible for insurance to deny based upon faulty workmanship, but thats not where I was going with this. I would see if I could find out who their GL is with in the process. I was actually thinking about a roof that had issues like that and it was a flat fron dormer that was brick and went through the decking in the roof. Bricks were weeping/leaking and running down inside the walls. Luckily he had a severe hail storm hit and when he redid the roof, they took the decking off and completely re-did the roof. I will never build a house with dormer windows from what I have seen. Very seldom do you ever not have a problem.

I am afraid we may always have a problem that's why I want someone who will back their work not just guess at where they think leak is and continue charging me for it. Checking with agent soon to see if what we have already paid can be put towards deductible or if they deny claim to point me in the direction of who to go after.

That's why I said to contact him. He came recommended to me by turkeyman on this board after we had the baseball sized hail in Clinton. He did a d@mn good job, was very professional, and did it at a reasonable cost. I don't know if he'll give you a warranty or not, but it won't hurt to ask.lilwhitelie wrote:jacksbuddy wrote:Contact Mike Palmer in Madison. (601)946-2525. He'll shoot straight with you.

For the record, after all of the fly-by-nighters got through with their roofin' bidness in my neighborhood, several homeowners had to track down the people who 'repaired' their roofs and get them back out to repair the repairs. I was not one of those poor souls. (One of my neighbors even had to get their roof done 3 times, AND threaten lawsuits. Bless their dear heart.)
