Who needs a mud boat?

Postby BAY KINGFISHER » Thu May 28, 2015 10:24 am

Should be some coming to the market...

Taken from The Hull Truth:

Plaquemines Parish Votes to ban Mud boats on Public and Private Property

Verbatim from May 14 Meeting agenda –“An Ordinance prohibiting commercial and recreational mud boats from trespassing on public and private property located within the boundaries of Plaquemines Parish, without the written permission of the land owners and to establish enforcement provisions; and otherwise to provide with respect thereto. COUNCIL MEMBER WILLIAMS.”
Passed unanimously - One council member absent

Im sure some revisions are coming but dang this is going to upset a lot of folks!!

This begs the question, how does one trespass (a wrongful entry on real property) on public property?
If you make a "rightful entry" on said property, can you use your mud boat?
Can you trespass on public or private property as long as it is in an outboard boat?
Looking for 2 duck calls from Dominic Serio of Greenwood (ones for Novacaine)

That'll end up getting reversed somehow.

To get even more Technical, A mud boat is different than a go-devil or a surface drive. Mud Boats are actually a different breed, where the shaft and prop are beneath the hull of the boat. I have no dog in this hunt because I hunt the adjoining parish but just thought I would clarify..........

I don't have a dog in the hunt either, and I'm almost certain this thing is going to be changed up a bunch before it becomes law. However, I do know this was started when the "Biloxi Marsh" area was turned into a no "mud boat" /"surface drive" area (Landowners that lease the area to the state of LA made this requirement...then Plaquemines followed suit) Like I said, this law really doesn't effect me much, but does impact several of my friends. The ordinance may say "mud boat", but Im pretty sure they are categorizing any boat that is made to run through shallow mud and water as "mud boats"

There is something to be said for bringing sweat-equity back into the sport. If someone wants to get way back in the marsh where the ducks stack up, they have to paddle a pirogue for an hour.
