my dad took me deer and duck hunting in nov 1954 to the same camp that i hunt now...

the camp is north of mahanna wildlife..ms.

lets see that was 47 years ago.....
we killed over 20 mallards in the same pothole the weekend of 12/29/01...

and yes i still dont know what i am doing..
but it sure was a lot easier when u are 25-40 years old....
but now when you hit that come-back-call..
8 mallards turn into the wind...on the steady drop...even at my age you still hold your breath...and the 11 year ole dog..still looks up hoping that i dont miss...

Raised in south Ms. brought up on Turkeys and squirrels in the Tallahala swamp of Forrest and Perry Counties. I consider myself and expert in those two fields (however a good tom can make anyone feel like an amatur). Started on ducks 4 years ago and been hard core last 2 years. My son is 16 and he keeps his ol man in the road chasing ducks. Wouldn't trade those days for "all the tea in China".

I have had a love/hate relationship with duckhunting for about 25 years. Something about this season tempered me though. It really didn't matter that I wasn't killing any, I was enjoying the hunt!

$HIT! I have become my father!...gawd please don't let me buy any green polyester suits....

I have been at it for 40 years. Some good dogs have come and gone during that period. I think often of all of them. Beside my wife, the labs are the most wonderful friends in the world. The one with me now is 9+. I learn something new about duck hunting everytime I log on to this site. All of you have taught me a great deal. Jack
