Past Saturday we hammered the tuna and amberjack out of Venice, La. Fished with Reel Peace Charters. Tuna were blowing up all around us. Largest was 120 lb. Don't let Venice fool you. At one point we were 80 miles due south of Mobile. Reel Peace has a website.

Fished with ReelPeace as well...one of the best outfits going.
Cant' beat the quality of fish, and close too.
For great inshore fishing, CoCo Marina in Cocodrie is pretty tough to beat.
If your'e lookin for big fish offshore though..

go to Venice...that's where they live!

Got a trip in May and in June.
He's comin' back around...

I keep a boat Cocodrie. Fished there for 20 years. Cuda Scheer out of Sportsman's Paradise is a good inshore guide, as well. He also fishes offshore but usually in the West Delta just west of the mouth of southwest pass. Might as well go to Venice. By the way, if you charter watch out for the gas bill. Last weekend we had a little hidden cost of $640.00 for fuel on top of the charter rate. Damn towel heads.

I have fished with Bobby Warren and Brent Roy out of Venice many times. We always catch our limits of specks and reds.

What are you fishing for?

Offshore:
Venice, LA: try Real Peace Charters and ask for Cpt Rimmer Covington, or try Paradise Outfitters and ask for Cpt Sonny Schindler,

Grand Isle: Try Chereice IV and Cpt Rene Rice.

I would stick to offshore fishing out of LA for more bang for your buck and fishing opportunities, watch the MS guys they will turn your offshor trip into a bull red, shark, and mackeral trip if you dont know any better, especially with the price of fuel these days,

Basically its a lot more riding to the furtile fishing grounds from G-port than from Venice.

Now if you are after speckled trout and reds I would suggest one of the boats that ferries you out to the Chandeleuers then you take skiffs to all the hot spots, and you can do this from the MS Coast.
Try Due South Cpt Chris Dimwidde for this type of excursion.

I often run from G-port for snapper but if blue water pelagics is your game save the 3 hr run for the truck ride to Venice.... your body will thank you the next day for sure.

Peace Marvel is the MAN in Venice. Any of the guides out of CoCo Marine in Cocadrie are good. I am going with Phil Robichaux the third week of May for two days out of Lafitte

I live in Orange Beach while my brother lives in Destin. He comes over here to fish. I will post a report later(have to make a living) on what is happening with the fishing. Talked to Wynn and he was getting ready for the Florida Snapper season which opens soon. He told me but I forgot the dates will call him today. Cobia have been very slow due to all the rain. Water muddy and can't see fish. My neighbor is Don Walker on the 68 foot Lady D if you want to get 12 or more while Wynn is who I use for a 6 pack. Not that they are any better or worse just because they are personal friends.
