Postby photoshopper » Sat Apr 30, 2005 2:30 pm

I told her I would get opinions on this..

she is looking for an indoor family dog. She really wants a yellow lab. Is there a difference in personality in yellow vs. Brown or black??? This dog will not be for hunting....Any suggestions? I tried to give her onw of our chesafreaks:P lol

Dog for cousin

Postby photoshop » Sat Apr 30, 2005 2:53 pm

Are they still trying to find someone to play with their kid? Spare the dog some torture.

Go to your local Humane Shelter. The one in Greenwood had a bunch of labs last time I was there that were scheduled to be put to sleep. Some were good looking full blood labs with obedience training. If I could have taken them home, but I already have 4 throw aways. It pisses me off when people throw away a good dog. My advise is to give a lab a second chance at life and adopt. :D

I don't think color makes any difference. It's all in the blood. Some are mellow and some are almost uncontrollable.

I don't want to sound like some liberal tree hunger but something I'm adament about is giving dog a chance at life. I promise you, if you ever pay a visit to your local Humane Shelter, you will leave there with a dog if you have a heart. Lordy....I'm getten soft. I promise you.....I've had enough of them to know, a throw away makes the best pet. 8)

I know...I am a softie too!

The Photoshop family consists of:

2 dogs
9 puppies
stray cat w/ 3 kittens
1 rabbit
2 guinnea pigs
1 hamster
a fish
a frog

all came from OTHER homes previously!!

I have jokingly said I have a sign on my forehead that says...please abandon your animals at my house...I have nothing else to do!

I agree that color doesn't make a difference to temperament. Some bloodlines, especially field trial lines, are more hyper - kinda like thoroughbred horses. But, you can take a lab from the most mellow breeding and if it is neglected, it will be crazy and capable of tearing up an anvil.
