My first college football experience was at Ole Miss. The LSU game of 1974, I think. I was a poor country boy who had hardly been out of Yazoo county. Boy were my eyes opened...

Getting rid of those traditions won't do a thing to win games...unfortunately the short sighted among us believe it will.

You wanna win games at Ole Miss...bump MSU and Souther Miss. down to Div I-AA...then you'll have a clear cut in state recruiting leader...until then the talent level is just to thin to allow an elite program to emerge (particularly since two teams are in the SEC)...it's just tough with the population base to have 2 SEC Elite football programs...tradition or not....

Nothing ever stays the same. Time moves on, even at UM. As much fun as that era was to me, I too was ready to move in a different path if it meant the difference between winning and losing. However, if we haven't won an SEC title in football by the year 2015, I say lets bring back the Colonel, fire up the band to play Dixie a hundred times a game, allow booze into the games, have a pre-game prayer, expand the Grove, ditch the wearing of red and wave Rebel flags at the game till our arms fall off----PC be damned. What the hell. If the weedwacker bowl, music city, and cotton bowls are the best we can do, then we might as well enjoy and revel in the old traditions. Such would sure beat still losing and no mascot or any traditions left. Toga. Toooga. Toga. Toooga. Toooga.
