Hard to say but shes gone

Postby Shoot » Mon May 02, 2005 6:16 pm

Guys this is tough as some of you know. But I had to bury my 5 year old lab today. The gate was left unlatched and she got in the road. Brandy was her name.Iknow many have never with her but those who have can attest to the drive and desire to please she had.More than the loss of a dog it's the loss of the ever loyal companion to me my wife and our three kids that will be dearly missed.I tell you it was almost like I was laying to rest one of my own children.

Brandy, where ever you are, may they always cup up and come in.You will not be forgotten.
Did you shoot?

Sorry to hear about your loss. It's tough losing a lab. They can get close to your heart. I lost my lab, Jack, almost 5 years ago. I have another lab named Chief at this time. It helps the healing process to get another dog, but just like with your Brandy, Chief is not Jack. There are still more days than not that I think about my old buddy Jack. Sorry about your loss.

I hope that you will remember all of the good times that she and your family had together. Someone once said that it is good that they do not live any longer than they do, for we could not stand to part with them. She should have had many more good years with you. :( :( :( :( :( :(

Only those that have lost one truly know. They become like persons/family members...Sorry.

In time get another pup they have healing powers! Won't be the same, never are, and cherish the memory of the other.

I will lend to you for a while, a Pup, God said,
For you to love him while he lives and mourn for him when he's dead.
Maybe for twelve or fourteen years, or maybe two or three,
But will you, 'till I call him back, take care of him for me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you, and (should his stay be brief)
You'll always have his memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught below I want this pup to learn.

I've looked the whole world over in search of teachers true,
And from the folk that crowd life's land, I have chosen you.
Now will you give him all your love nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to take my Pup back again?

I fancied that I heard them say, "Dear Lord, Thy Will be Done,"
For all the joys this Pup will bring, the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness; we'll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we've known forever grateful stay.
But should you call him back much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand.
If, by our love, we've managed, your wishes to achieve,
In memory of him we loved to help us while we grieve,
When our faithful bundle departs this world of strife,
We'll have yet another Pup, and love him all his life."

I am so very sorry to hear about your pup.

Never ask a man what kind of dog he has. If he has a Lab he'll tell you, if he does not you don't want to shame him by asking.

Shoot - It breaks my ole heart when I see post like this on here. I would give up just about anything I had to keep something bad from happening to my good ole friend! I never knew how attached you got to an animal until I got one and spent every waking minute with him.
