Arizona State gives LSU $500K for Katrina relief
Associated Press

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Arizona State University gave the LSU Foundation $500,000 -- a portion of the net revenue earned from the LSU-Arizona State football game -- for its Hurricane Katrina-Rita Student Relief Fund.

The game, played Sept. 10 in Tempe, Ariz., was originally scheduled to be played in Baton Rouge. It was moved to Arizona because at the time, LSU's campus was being used to assist with medical relief efforts.

The other half of the money generated by the game was donated to the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund.

The student relief fund was created by the LSU Foundation in the days following Hurricane Katrina to assist students at LSU who suffered property loss and loss of financial support due to Katrina, and, later, Hurricane Rita.

With the ASU contribution added in, more than $560,000 has been raised through contributions to the LSU Foundation from individuals and groups across the country, the foundation said Wednesday.

That's a pretty decent thing to do on ASU's part, they have my respect now for sure.
