Disrespectfull

Postby mshunter77 » Mon Oct 17, 2005 10:41 am

i have been to many games at ole miss and the fans have always been very respectful as a whole of course there are always the few that are not that you get at every school but sat. during the game when bama receiver DJ Hall was hurt i thought it was very disrespectfull for the ole miss fans to chant hotty toddy. every one that is into sports knows that when a player is down you do not do something like this.

huh ?? we started the hotty toddy before we knew he was hurt.... we stopped them on a big 3rd down play was all we knew at the time. When he got up the entire stadium gave him a standing ovation..... we weren't cheering because he was injured.

Eh....I wouldnt call it disrespectful.

I'd just say they (students) really weren't paying attention.

I didnt think it was that big a deal.

Besides, there really hasn't been that much to cheer for around Oxford these days.

the chant started well after the play was over, not really that big of a deal, just the way i have always been told to act when a player is down. I guess all of the ole miss fans where just excited and probably a little too much whiskey to really think about it

Give me a freaking break. Big third down stop. The player was out of bounds, not like he was in the middle of the field where everyone could see him. Only when I didn't see the punting units coming onto the field did I even realize there was a player down. When he got up, EVERYONE in the stadium applauded, including the student section. Not really sure where you're going with this, but get over it.

I'd have to agree with everyone else. I myself didn't see an injured player. I thought it was another durn TV timeout until I heard the crowd stand and clap for the injured player as they helped him down the sideline.

I have never seen as such whiny visiting fans as Auburn and Alabama fans. They complain about everything and are so, so sensitive. How they ever manage to go to places like LSU, Florida, MSU and make it out with their sanity is unbelievable to me. Last year, there were Auburn fans making a big deal out of some young children chanting hotty toddy at the game, another was coming unglued that someone shot him the bird, and several others were complaining about the service they got at a waffle house in Tupelo on the way home.  And lets not even get started on the cheering during the Auburn alma mater deal a few years ago, just before UM won that game. Everytime Ole Miss comes even close to winning or does win the games, these fans will find some trivial thing to isolate and complain about ---most likely a defensive mechanism ---in other words, although our football team did not whip you bad enough to fuel my huge ego and sense of superiority, I will now beat your school and fans down personally to make myself feel better.

Good grief, it is a football game. Lighten up will ya. The guy walked off the field with some assistance. Well before the student -led hotty toddy, it was obvious he was not in a life threatening condition. He just fell awkwardly and got the breath knocked out of him and bruised his chest. He later went back in to the game in the second half. It was a looong break in the action, expecially for fired up and restless students, many of whom probably did not even realize anyone was still down.

Whether it is cowbells at MSU, the cannon at UM, hotty toddy, the Dogpound Rock on the field, or anything else that might be fun for the MS schools and a little obnoxious, you can count on an Alabama school leading the charge to get rid of it.  Never mind the fact that we have to put up with that obnoxiously loud elephant noise in Tuscaloosa, or the incessantly loud "THIS IS ALABAMA FOOTBALL" over the loudspeaker, or the lack of anything fun or exciting in Auburn, it is necessary that we endure the annual crying of the Alabama schools over anything that does not suit their fancy.

More Cowbell please.

Do you think you are making a broad generalization?

I sure do.

Personally, I disagreed with mshunter77 and I havent really heard much about this. You on the other hand just wrote a short story on your isolated incidents with Alabama and Aubrun fans. Sounds like your the one whining.

And for what its worth, there is nothing more annoying than your PA announcer. It sounds like he's doing play by play. Every person I have talked to who has been to VH has said the same thing....and I'm not just talking about AU and UA fans.

It's bad when they only get to chant hotty toddy when the defense is on the field, only thing worthy of chanting it for.

This Egg Bowl will end up being the greatest of all-time, deciding the cellar winner of the sec west.

Two offenses that can't score, and two defense that can't get any help........and special team blunders.......looking at a 3-2 game.
