Ok time for the rest of the story. The owl was ever so gently prompted to climb up on a broom handle and was taken outside. He hopped right on the end of it. No problems. Well he sat in the court yard for about ten min's and twisted his ole head around a few times( like that chick from the exorsist. Then the sob pulled out a hymnal and sang I'll fly away oh lordy, I'll fly awaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.
Gosh you guys are easy. The bird returned to that which he had came. No problems. Although some of you guys are SICK. TURNNING A CAT LOOSE AND FEEDING THE OWL SMALL CHILDREN. What's wrong with yall? I bet yall beat your dogs.
Man I hope duck season gets here soon. By the way I will tell yall the golden cookie gos to teul. We called everyone but 1-800- be smart. Good call Teul2.
Have a good un bouys.

You know I'm not sure. I need to look it up. You might remember when you were there it happened one time before. Richards little girl came and got me and I told her to tell Jimbo to come catch it not thinking he would disrupt the whole sunday school class, but you know Jimbo.

This is true. I'm not worried about a ticket. If greenjeans writes you a ticket for protecting a bird his ass needs to be fired. The bird lived to fly another day. he was not molested in any way other than being stared at by a bunch of worshipers. I just thougt it was a fun story with a happy ending. I couldn't believe he just hopped up on the stick when it was slid in front of him. We just opened the door and walked outside with him sitting on the end of that stick. My understanding is that is the 2nd one to get stuck down there in about five years. Can't tell how they got in.

We raised a screech owl when we were kids. I know some of you get pious about these things; we were kids. A tree fell and killed a nest of em, we found one alive and took it home. It was neat to see the bird grow, once he finally started flying, he would fly across the room and land on your arm at feeding time. He stuck around about a year, after six to seven months we moved the nesting box outside to allow him to roam at night. After a few months he returned less and less. And, finally later would return to the yard every now and then. Then was gone. But, it was a really neat thing to watch grow and return to the wild.
If you've ever looked at the claws on a barred or a great horned owl or those of a hawk, you have discovered that they are nothing to fool around with.
There is a couple in Jackson who have the knowledge and the federal credentials to rehabilitate sick and injured birds of prey. They have released a number of hawks and owls on our property over the years.

I was driving late one night and a screech owl flew into the side of my truck.
I stopped and picked him up and threw him in the tool box for dead to show my dad why there was a dent in his truck.
I got home and the SOB was sitting up looking at me, clacked his beak together loud!!
It sounded like a 22short going off. I ended up putting him in a small dog carrier and called that lady in Jackson. They took him in and several months later, called back to get where I had caught him. They let him out in the same area b/c they are pretty territorial.
Cool little sucker.
