Killed my first Greenhead today!!

Postby rjohnson » Sat Dec 31, 2005 5:04 pm

Shot him out of a Power Hunter about 40 yards away trying to land well away from our spread. Hope it doesn't take this long on the next few. Right now that is one expensive duck. Happy New Year to everyone!

when you add up the cost associated with the kills, it becomes a very expensive ratio. It had better taste good :D congatulations

Yeah if most people figured up the cost to kill ratio, they would realize they are crazy. That is why I have never figured it up. I know I am crazy

try to remember every detail of it...you might want to even write it down. The further it gets away, the easier it is to remember those small details. Every time I get frustrated ( which is often) with duck hunting, I remember back to when I got my first greenhead. ( It was the last day of the season and hadnt killed one all year, so I sat there all day without going in for lunch, and finally got one at about 3 in the afternoon.) It renews my spirits and fires me back up again. I took my dad the other day and he got his first greenhead.

I've only killed 4 ducks this year, mainly because of my shooting I think. 2 woodies and a greenhead and susie. Hunting new property but we finally figured out where they wanted to be so it's on now.

Any suggestions for the mount? Shot at him the first shot while he was standing in the rice stalks outside the decoys. Thought about mounting him like that. What's everyone's favorite for a greenhead?
