I bought that book a couple of years ago and agree that it is amazing. Dr. Capooth also wrote one called The Golden Age of Hunting, which covers deer, turkey and other hunting in this region during the same era. It is equally fascinating.

Does anyone know of other books similar to this one that deal with history along the delta, especially dealing with hunting?

I have read "Rising Tide" about the '27 flood, and it talks about alot of the old aristocracy of the South (Delta to NO mostly). It was very interesting, and I would like to read more of the same. Thanks.

The book on Holt Collier is outstanding. It and Rising Tide will be on my bookshelf forever - so don't ask to borrow

Are you talking about the one by Buchanan? I am looking at Amazon.com right now. Thanks for the input!

Nash Buckingham, Beaver Dam and Other Hunting Tales by Dr. William "Chubby" Andrews is a great book and very, very hard to find [first editions]. Last I heard there were only a few remaining [first edition] copies available. Holler if serious and I'll see if I can locate one.

The Arkansas Duck Hunter's Almanac by S. Bowman and S. Wright is awesome too, full of history, lore and information about Akansas' waterfowling heritage.

Yes, that is the one. The Chubby Andrew's book has been reprinted and is again available around Memphis (Davis-Kidd and Bass Pro had it before Christmas at least).
