Best Camo Pattern
Best Camo Pattern
Stuck at the office and bored, so I thought I would start a discussion. What is the best all around camo pattern on the market? If you had to do all your hunting (duck, deer, turkey...) with one camo pattern what would it be?
For the record, I do not think it really matters as long as you break up your outline and sit still. I have seen ole timers kill turkeys wearing liberty overalls and a flannel shirt. I wear mostly Mossy Oak patterns but in my opinion the new Realtree and Mossy Oak patterns are too busy and have too much black in them. Natural Gear probably has the best pattern. If they could get one of the major apparel manufacturers to start using their pattern I think Natural Gear would really take off in popularity.

I like the old shadow grass for hinding in grass or canes. If I'm hiding in trees then I like the breakup, but I think the most important thing is to use the shadows in your surroundings to your advantage. A guy told me one time, we cant shoot through those limbs.....I said "wanna bet?"

work hard, play hard
I agree on the Mossy Oak bottomland. I still have some that I turkey hunt in. Camoflauge has gotten to be such a fashion statement. It is like how pro sports teams make changes to their uniforms so they can sell more merchandise. No one wants to be seen wearing last years jersey. I would not be suprised to see this years Super Bowl winner come out with a different jersey style next year.
Mossy Oak needs to sell the rights to the bottomland pattern to some company like Cabelas and let them put it on their merchandise.

US military Tiger stripe
I can remember way back when, I used to have some of dad's BDU's in Tiger Stripe, that I wore as cutoff shorts. I didn't realize I was wearing pants that had been worn in the "other" Delta.
Hard to beat that stuff down on the ground when the woods are green.

I've got the deception pattern. It works pretty nice as far as i can tell. Lots of the benefit comes from the different colors that really break up your pattern. I've used it in tree stands, still hunting and along levee's in catfish ponds ect.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; the best camo ever is:

At times there is not a satisfactory substitute for well-aimed lead going down range at high velocity.
