Coons in Garden

Postby rustypjr » Wed Jun 28, 2006 6:10 am

Any ideas on how to stop the coons from destroying ny maters. Every ripe mater is shelled out and scattered though out my garden. Mt maters just ain't doing to spiffy this year. Tried a new spot this year and I guess I learned my lesson.

Be VERY careful with that stuff. It doesn't take but a few grains to kill a dog (any dog - yours or otherwise) - and oh yeah, it only takes a few grains of that stuff to kill a man also - very lethal stuff. My Dad's old crop consultant put some out to take care of a sparrow problem around his house and ended up killing all 3 of his Golden Retreivers as well.

"Temic"

read this before you put that out under your tomatoes.

If you shoot enough of those coons (not many actually) you can pay the the shelling, maybe even the packing for the rest of your garden..... but that would be breaking the law?

DO NOT put out Temik.

The stuff will kill everything. And when dead songbirds are found by your neighbors, you will be charged with violation of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act in Federal Court....among other violations.

Call your local MDWFP district office about a depredation permit (should be easy to get in this instance) to take the coons that are ravaging your garden. Or, wait until July 1 and you can legally take 1 coon/day.

After you catch them, find a coon hunter who would like them to train with. My grandpa used to do that with his coon dog pups.
