we can all agree that since 2001 msu football has been worse than pathetic.. horrible... horriendous.. just pick in adjective that describes f'd up and thats been msu football...

The bottom line is both programs are marginal at best. State is nowhere near competing for the SEC and Ole Miss remains the only team from the West never to make it to Atlanta, despite having one of the best QBs in NCAA history.
State and Ole Miss are the Kentucky and Vandy of the West.
Look at it realistically. Mississippi has one of the smallest populations of any State in the US and as per a thread from a few months back, spends less per capita than any SEC State on football. Not only is Mississippi small, it is poor, and money is a prereq to success in football on a national level. Despite all of this you have two SEC schools competing for that talent, and a solid school in Hattiesburg as well. To pour more salt in the wound, LSU, AU, and Bama have been very successful at cherry picking the state's best talent for years.
If you combined the rosters of State and Ole Miss into one team, they may have three total players who could start for Georgia or Auburn or even LSU.
Facts are facts. I am from Mississippi, live in Mississippi and want to see the state succeed, but facts are facts. Optimism and school pride are wonderful things, but the reality of the matter is both programs are in bad shape.

That is true I took my time to explain that they suck and explain why they currently suck and explain why there is a fine chance they will suck for a long time to come. The reason for the explanation is all of the delusional talk of mine is better than yours, when it is all essentially putting suger on schit. My gut feeling is that Ole Miss currently stands in a better position to not suck as a result of solid recruiting. I see absolutely no hope for State. But that is just my opinion.
