The HUNTING room!
In my new house i have a walk out basement that is 12'x25'. My other half has let me do what ever i choose with this room!
If you guys could rig up a hunting room anyway you wanted what would go in it?
here is my list:
TV
VCR
hunting video collection
fridge
floor cabnets with countertop so u can store shells, decoy string, blind bag, and all that other deer and turkey hunting stuff.
special place for cleaning guns and fishing reels
a build in wader dryer
boot shelvs
Rod holder
i got an old lazy boy i might get recovered with mossy oak
and a futon for when the old lady gets loud.
Im gonna paint the floor with epoxy garage floor paint, and put "barnwood" paneling over the concrete walls.
It has a single entry door now, im about to add a french door so i can back the truck up and load up
I'll post before and after pics!

I would shy away from that epoxy paint..especially in a basement area. That stuff is slick as owl poop on a lenolium floor when it gets wet. Being in a basement area it will be prone to sweat with the fluctuating air temps/humidity level etc. If I were you I would do something else with the flooring...some old rustic hardwood flooring with a moisture barrier or moisture control system between it and the slab/underflooring would be better and have a much more authentic ambience. I know you are up in KS and I would tell you to consult a flooring specialist in that area for advice on what to do and how to accomplish it...just a thought. I would, if room permits put a 3 1/2' X 7' pool table somewhere "bar table"...what hunting camp is complete without one and this will be kinda like your own personal "hunting camp" at home...so why not, it will give you and your buddies something to do, and maybe you and your wifey something to do as well.

It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

flooring
I have a moisture barrier already on the floor, The Epoxy paint is especially formulated for basement applications. The pool table want fit, and i already had one before, not as fun after a few years! I want this to be a room that i can take all my hunting junk out of, and still be apealing when i resale the house.
any other thoughts?

Stain the concrete yourself and us area rugs. I like the barnwood idea alot all the walls. Build an entire wall of shelves oughtta the same wood to accomodate mounts, shadowboxes, books, tv, other memorabilia, photo, etc., maybe even incorporate the gun safe and fridge into it too. All other walls covered with mounts and photos. Plenty of lighting, track lights and some lighting built in the shelves. Here's another great idea to whom I credit Webfoot: rusty, corrugated tin on the ceiling.

floors, shelves, mounts....whatever. Sounds like you've already figured out the most important thing...adding the doors so the truck is nearby. Loading up isn't that bad. I'm always excited and don't mind "chores" that are part of the whole deal. It's unloading that sucks. Better to just back her up to the doors, push everything out, and then go take a nap.

don't forget the wet bar......
in all seriousness, i'd put down some area rugs or even cut some astro turf and lay it in places...... another options is to get some additive (i know H & C makes one called Sharkskin) that will add some coarseness to your floor so you don't bust your behind.

bar
I dont think i'll be need a wet bar! i have been on the look out for an ice maker, my extra fridge has one, but i want a stand alone icemaker, that would come in really handy! Also gonna put a sink and maybe a maple buther block table beside the sink! that would come in real handy when cleaning game, especially with the fridge near by!

Not sure about what's available over there, but here we can buy mossy oak wood paneling. I want to say it's MO Break-Up. Standard 4' x 8' sheet. Now it's thin, in the range of 3/16", but it looks damn good. Good friend of mine did this to the walls in the office in his home. It along with snaplock wood floors and it's looks damn good.
I'll try and dig up some info.
I had even used this stuff when I built my deer stand. It was my exterior covering.
I also vote for numerous mounts and pictures hung on the wall.
