Best Shotgun

Postby jwayne » Wed Aug 30, 2006 8:32 am

Thinking of getting a new shotgun and wondering what would be the best choice. Figured that I would ask everyone what they thought was the best all around shotgun before I went and just bought one. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I like my new Extrema II. The shotgun fits me well and is very reliable. Also have a Benelli that hasn't been out of the case since I purchased the Beretta that is OK.

I have both the Extrema ll and the SBE ll. I like both but if I had to decide on one or the other I'd probably go with the SBE. You will be happy with either.

I think there may be at least one other thread this may be on. Just maybe.

My vote is for the Extrema2. Briley light mod. choke.

No kick off needed.

Well kind of depends on how much you want to spend. That would be a good place to start. Post up your price range.

You can spend the money if you want to and get you some of the newfangled high $$ shotguns, I have a SBE, but I can tell you that I was just as happy with my old 870 express 26" synthetic. That was one duck killing son of a gun. If you feel you need the punch of a 3 1/2" then get you the super mag express.
It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Another question so these pros can help you out? Pump or auto?

Heard good things about the Baikal 3.5" autos and I like my Nova pump. If you can shoot ok you don't really need a second shot. I think the Extrema and SBE 2's are a little more than a grand new. You can get the Baikal for less than $500 and the Nova for less than $400. Nova you can tear down in the field w/out tools, had to do that a few times when I dropped it the water. Definitely shoulder every one of them that you think you want to see what feels the best.
