GH22 is a little low. My golds have at least 60K combined rounds through them, and they get cleaned about 4 times a year, max. Mine have been through total hell, including spending 10 hours under saltwater in Hurricane Katrina. MSDuckmen strip cleaned them over after the storm to neutralize the salt, and they are still going. Not one hang-up in killing 186 ducks last year, even after the Katrina bath. And neither got cleaned during the season this year (Gawd I have gotten lazy).

Don't believe the internet myths that Browning Golds jam all the time. I know about a dozen hardcore waterfowl hunters/target shooters that use these guns to the point of obsenity just like I do, and we all laugh about this stuff.

I may have gotten a "lemon" but mine does jam quite often, unless I keep it very clean (take apart clean)..3.5" shells tend to hang up no matter what..

Myself and members of my family have had numerous Brownings over the years (B-80, BAR)..I think they are overrated..I have a gas operated old Remington made in 1958 that never hangs therefore I only clean it once a year..

My Browning Gold was a gift from my father and I am very grateful for that..Otherwise I would have bought a Remington or Benelli

Does it hang with ALL brands of shells, or just certain ones?

GC, go re-read what I wrote.

I said 30K through each gun, which makes a combined 60K.

I guess I should actually start to read your posts in detail, now that you have at least a partial grasp of the english language! :D I do miss the crayon pictures from the old days, though!

Browning

Postby DrakeDemon » Wed Sep 06, 2006 1:52 pm

Sorry to tell you this but I bought one about 3 years ago and did not get to hunt with it the first two years because it went to Browning 3 times. Mine would hang with any kind of shell whether it was light load doves or 3.5 steel. It would shoot two shells and hang on the third one everytime. After the 3rd trip it will shoot #8 7/8 oz. with no problem. It is fine now it just took a while and was a hassle. With that in my mind I just do not really like the gun for that reason. Good luck!!!

Katrina killed my A5. You would not BELIEVE what the salt water did to that old steel......

I have had 5 Golds, no problems with any of them. I sold off a few to buy other guns I wanted, but would not hesitate to get another one. Especially if I could actually find one with a 30" barrel.

I'm with bigwater

Postby DrakeDemon » Wed Sep 06, 2006 7:05 pm

Bigwater I am with you on the feelings for the browning :( I was like you and thought that was the last gun that I would have to buy also. I kind of went about the purchase the wrong way I first sold my SBE and then my nova and ordered my Gold in between them and when I got my gold that was the main hunting shotgun that I had. I wished a thousand times over that I would have kept my sbe. I have been looking for another but haven't found a good of a deal on one that I found on my last one. I'm burnt on gold's not actually browning but the golds have an a-5 and it is an antique work horse.
