Pictures probably taken before the beer got cold.

I wish that sucker would move a little west and breed the female that has been hanging out around our place.

Yeah, peewee -- my dad saw that one and her cub a little over a year ago right across the bayou from you guys. He called the bear guy in Jackson and they have been keeping close tabs on that ole girl. She had a radio collar on then, but they have caught her at least twice (I think 3 or 4) since then and fitted her with a gps collar. Very neat. We learned this at the Extravaganza. She is evidently quite content in your area -- must be all that corn you put out. :D

stang67, there where some sightings last season of a bear on the other side of the bayou from where your dad saw his, I beleive it was a lone bear no cubs with it.

stang a fellow had a corn feeder in the fields and she was hitting it earlier, her and her cub but lately I believe she has been camped out in the woods near the bayou. Biologist showed us where there was a tree she had wooped up on a couple weeks ago. Pretty cool, I would just like to see he while hunting, hopefully if I do get to see her I will have my video camera with me. I have always wanted the L. Black Bear to make a come back in MS, I have been fascinated with this species for years so it gets me excited to know there are a couple running around in our area up there.

I agree. The night before dad saw her, we had been sitting around the camp fire talking about how neat it would be to see a black bear in the woods (not having even heard about one being sited in the area). That same night I locked my keys in the truck, and dad had to drive up the next a.m. to bail me out. He saw the bears as he was headed back toward the levee. I was glad he saw em, cuz that put him in a better mood after driving all that way just to bring me the keys.
