I definetely have some things to add to the re-cap of last week's hunt.....but I'd probably be banned from posting here. jk
There were some issues with shot selection and shot placement....not to mention Scooter almost knocking himself out when his bowstring caught his binoculars, a bow hitting a treestand after a shot resulting in Scooter's buddy having to buy a brand new Switchback, me sending one of my buddies to a lock-on that had no steps or ladder.
But we made it through, and got a helluva bunch of deer meat.
I'm going back for shotgun/muzzleloader season in 3 weeks. I'll let ya'll know if I get one of those limping bucks.

No, the story about my binocs is true. Had a good, clean 20 yd. shot, had stopped him, and was settling in to my peep sight when the doe, now downwind, jumped. When she did, he did too. Now had to re-adjust my shot around a branch by leaning WAY out (safety belt working....). The binocs leaned out too, and when I released my string caught them and for an instant I thought Joe Frasier had landed a right hook. They popped up, hit me in the face, and I stumbled back (safety belt REALLY working now....) Arrow sailed over his back and inch or so

So that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Mechanical breakdown, not shooter error, like J. Warren or G. Gullett's saddER stories.

Moral of this story, like I tell my dad, when you are bowhunting don't wear stuff around yo neck!!!

Don't wear them hanging around your neck, hang them over one shoulder and under the opposite arm. Shot at least 50 3-d tournaments with bino's in this position and NEVER had them get in the way. This is the way I hunted as well, and they never got in the way there either. If the deer is far enough for you to need bino's then you don't have to worry about moving just a little bit to get them...they just slide around, then slide them back.
It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
As far as binos go, you have to get a harness that will secure them to your chest. If not for bow hunting for turkey hunting. That's why I bought mine. You know when you are crawling up on a field to see if there is anything in it to set up on. Well I got tired of my binos dragging the ground and get wet or muddy. Now Dutch does have a good tip, that is where I put my range finder, over my shoulder and it stays out of the way.

here is the way to solve all of this 1. crooked horn bino straps 2. leuepold bino/ranger finders. I got the bino/range finder this year and love um. The less stuff i have the better for me.
Scooter, where were you guys huntin? We just got back from Atlas last night. Saw a bunch of deer and a few good ones but the weather was warm and windy as hell. From what it sounds we just missed all the good weather thats coming in up there this week. We are headed back up in a few days for one last shot.
and chopper, thanks for the good directions. I didnt get back to the camp til 1:30am riding around lost between pittsfield and springfield.

Don't blame me, I told you I couldn't remember how to get anywhere but that trashy bar where you went home with that ugly, husky girl.
If that was a shot at ugly and husky women...then you need to remember that they need love to! You b@st@rd!

I WAS wearing crooked horn bino straps, but when you lean so far out you're safety belt is tight, they tend to lean some too.

We were hunting East of Hannibal. The weather was perfect (25 one night), but was windy most of the week.
